• Position Summary:

The Estimator is responsible for preparation and presentation of general and/or discipline estimates.

Responsible for conceptual estimating, cost analysis and estimate planning, coordination, and consolidation.Responsible for directing the cost estimate effort on a major project or on multiple small projects.

Provides estimating assistance and guidance to the projects.Performs department organizational and administrative activities when delegated.Provides direction to others on project/program level tasks.

• Key Responsibilities:

Actively participate and contribute to operational team meetings.

• Show leadership, commitment and enthusiasm towards positive business outcomes and operational changes.

Observe safety protocols & actively contribute to a positive team environment.

• Understanding risk, where risk can exist, factors contributing to risk, and factoring risk in to estimates.

Estimate & set profit levels for General Manager to review.

• Ensure all estimates and quotes remain transparent for MJK Project & Production teams.

Liaise with clients regarding clarification of their requirements, maintaining close relationships.

• Obtain prices for materials from suppliers & estimate labour costs.

Review incoming enquiries to ensure specifications & requirements are within our company's capabilities.

• Support development of estimating standards and procedures.

Proficient in Lump Sum and Design Build estimates for competitive bid projects.

• Understanding charging practices, the relevant commercial influences (i.e., insurance, taxes, etc.) and the relationship of charging practices to commercial terms, invoicing, and profitability.

Continuing contact with clients through progress meetings, reviews, and presentations.

• Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Proven 2-3 years experience as a Mechanical Engineering Estimator.

Knowledgeable of WHS, environmental and fabricating principles and practices

• Excellent with MS Suite.

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and costs.

• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and negotiate with vendors.

• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in estimating.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
