We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Estimator, registered as a mechanical engineer, to join our dynamic sales department. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting our sales efforts by accurately assessing project costs, preparing quotations, and collaborating closely with our engineering and sales teams. This position requires a strong technical background in mechanical engineering, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and clients.
Cost Estimation: Utilize your mechanical engineering expertise to evaluate project requirements, interpret technical drawings, and calculate accurate cost estimates for products and services.
- Quotation Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive quotations based on the estimated costs, ensuring alignment with client specifications and budget constraints.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs and requirements, providing technical expertise and support during the sales process.Technical Documentation:
Develop detailed technical documentation to accompany quotations, including materials lists, labor estimates, and any special considerations or engineering requirements.Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, pricing benchmarks, and competitor offerings to maintain competitiveness and enhance the accuracy of estimates.
- Customer Relations: Engage with clients as needed to clarify technical details, discuss project scopes, and address any questions related to cost estimates or quotations.
Process Improvement:
Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes, tools, and methodologies to streamline operations and improve accuracy.
- Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.- Registered as a Professional Mechanical Engineer (P.E. license or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in a role involving cost estimation or project management.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.- Detail-oriented approach with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness in estimating and documentation.
Proficiency in relevant software tools for estimation and technical documentation (e.g., CAD software, Excel, ERP systems).
- Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a sales environment or collaborating closely with sales teams.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.
Certification in Estimating or Project Management would be a plus.
This position typically operates in an office environment, with occasional visits to production facilities or client sites as needed.- Normal working hours, but flexibility may be required to meet project deadlines or client demands.
