Job Specification-Roles & Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Windows System Administrator with strong expertise in managing Internet Information Services (IIS). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in troubleshooting complex issues in Windows environments and possess a solid understanding of networking concepts. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role, along with strong troubleshooting abilities. The candidate should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly while maintaining effective communication with our relevant teams. While SQL Server database management experience is a plus, it is not a primary requirement for this role.
Responsibilities include:
- Windows Server Administration:
- Monitor system performance, reliability, and availability, ensuring systems operate efficiently.
- Strong diagnostic skills to pinpoint root causes of system or performance issues.
- IIS Administration:
- Install, configure, and manage Internet Information Services (IIS) for web applications.
- Monitor and optimize IIS performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve IIS-related issues, including performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities.
- Develop IIS setup best practices for use in deploying various types of web apps.
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for Windows Server and IIS-related issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server issues, including those related to performance, security, and connectivity.
- Diagnose and resolve complex problems quickly and effectively to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and trace various networking and connectivity related issues.
- Collaborate with other Support team members to resolve multi-layered issues involving various systems and networks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Development, Product, DevOps, and Customer IT groups to support Windows Server & IIS related activities and projects.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation for Windows / IIS configurations, procedures, triaging templates, and processes.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Windows System Administrator, with a strong focus on IIS management, particularly in a support role.
- Solid understanding of networking principles and experience with network troubleshooting.
- SQL Server experience is a nice-to-have but not mandatory.
- Experience with cloud databases (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to confidently lead customer IT groups through troubleshooting routines.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Self-starter needing minimal technical direction to engage on and resolve issues.
