Veterinary Technician Qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree preferably in Animal Science, Biology and Animal related courses.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
Has knowledge of animal behavior.
- Has strong empathy for animals.
Assists veterinarians.
- Provides animal care by determining animal requirements.
Conducts examinations and diagnostic procedures.- Performs intravenous line insertion/re-insertion, collection of diagnostic samples, other procedures not requiring a veterinarian (i.e. wound cleaning/flushing/re-bandaging) of patient.
Assist in pre-operative preparation of patients, prepare medication as instructed by Veterinarian
- Prepare and assist animals during surgery and other medical procedures.
Administer medications, vaccines and/ or other treatments assigned by a veterinarian.- Observe and analyze animal behaviors and conditions.
Monitor patient's vital sign including but not limited to temperature, pulse rate, respiratory rate, heart rate, blood pressure, neurologic status and mentation.
- Maintain cleanliness of patient wards.
Maintains supplies, equipment and records.- Assist feeding and monitor specific type of food for patients.
