Veterinary Assistants work in a supportive role carrying out a range of tasks aimed at improving animal health and welfare.
To provide care for animals in all operations- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the practice.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide compassionate care to patients.- Performs all duties following hospital medical policies and procedures.
Assist Veterinarians during patient's consultation and examination.
- Restrain patients appropriately and safely when required.
Care for patients, including getting their weight and temperature.- Maintain stock control of bandages, cotton, medicines, and syringes inside the consultation rooms.
Maintain hygiene by cleaning and disinfecting consultation rooms.
- Demonstrate excellent relations which clients/pets in consultation and/or exam rooms.
Assist in surgery upon the discretion of Veterinarian.- Preferably with at least 6 months - 1 year experienced.
Patient and caring personality- Ability to follow instructions properly
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs.)
Displays a professional manner at all times
Must be able to be on feet eight hours per day.- Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
