Job Overview:With a focus on safety, reliability and efficiency you will work as part of a team responsible for supporting our fleet of vessels with their IT & communication needs.
As part of the Navigator Gas IT team, you will work alongside a Vessel IT Engineer as a team of two in Manila and will play a vital role as part of a wider IT team, who support the business from other locations globally. The Vessel IT Engineer position reports to the Group Vessel IT Manager.
We are seeking a proactive and reliable Vessel IT Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work both independently and as a team. The candidate must be able to balance and prioritize support cases and projects as well as communicate effectively.
Informal and formal on-the-job training will be available.
Supporting Vessel IT operations across our fleet, proactively resolving IT issues as well as contributing and sharing technical expertise in Vessel IT projects.
- Perform root cause analysis in support cases, walk the end user through the problem-solving process and keep detailed notes for escalating unresolved issues.
Ensuring that onboard network and satellite communications systems are correctly configured and stable to maintain business continuity.- Administering our PMS, Active Directory and specialised applications, to support user accounts and access.
With guidance from the Vessel IT Manager, specify, procure and set up hardware such as servers, desktops, laptops and networking devices.
- Day-to-day maintenance and monitoring of infrastructure assets across the fleet.
Installing, testing, maintenance and support of general and marine applications in the fleet.- Promote good Cyber Security awareness while working with stakeholders. Ensuring that our assets remain secure through completion of risk assessments, monthly security patching and antivirus checks.
Ensuring that relevant Vessel IT documentation and inventories are kept up to date.
- Maintaining good relationships with third party support vendors and suppliers.
Collaborate with the wider IT and Service Desk team.
4 years of experience working in an IT support role, with a minimum of 3 years in Vessel IT .- Degree level qualification or professional certification related to the IT field.
Certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, 365 Fundamentals, Windows Server or similar.
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows
Intermediate knowledge of Windows Server.- Knowledge of Windows networking, firewalls, printing, and file shares.
Knowledge of network security, antivirus, DNS security, and VPNs.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, including Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of satellite communications systems and experience troubleshooting connection issues.- Experience using ITSM, RMM, remote access and endpoint security management applications.
Willing to travel to vessels Worldwide (up to 5 times per year).
- Fluent/ particularly good in English (both verbal and written).

Experience using virtualisation technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
