I. JOB SUMMARY The Utility is primarily responsible in the cleanliness and orderliness of all areas of the institution including the treatment area, re-use rooms, biomedical room, reverse osmosis area, comfort rooms, administrative, medical director and nursing offices, the stock room as well as the facade of the institution following strict infection control standards as well as institutional policies and procedures. Ensures the cleanliness and disinfection of equipment utilized for the above-mentioned purpose. Also Chiefly responsible for piling and organizing of stocks during service deliverables as scheduled and during restocking of supplies for use in the treatment area on a weekly basis as well as providing assistance for oxygen use and transport, patient transport, wheeling of patients for admission or discharge.
- II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Consistently implements the Vision-Mission, Core Values and Quality Policy.
Refers to policy and procedural manuals to verify and confirm rules and regulations during the establishment of work or treatment plans.
Reads protocols addressing treatment plans or assessment procedures to assist relevant patient queries when evaluating their medical conditions. Such protocols require specialized medical knowledge to understand and apply content.
Responsible for inventory of stocks used for utility and other supplies.
Refers promptly to Chief Biomedical Technician in cases of difficult situations or any unusual occurrences encountered during the entire shift duration.
Adheres to infection control standards as well as health crisis and emergency disaster management/safety standards and protocols.
Assists patients in moving, weighing with assistance from other nurses using proper body mechanisms to decrease risk of injuries.
Performs disinfection of loop, raw tank and bicarbonate containers as scheduled.
Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of all areas
Removes and replaces soiled linens and equipment to maintain sanitary conditions.
Stocks supplies and maintains storage in an orderly manner.
Participates in regular meetings as well as conferences, continuing education programs of the department. Exchange information with colleagues and make suggestions to better improve work and implementing specific procedures.
Reads bulletins from the administration to keep abreast of changes in health care policies and standards as well as learn about emerging trends in the profession, new techniques and practices.
Reads work instruction manuals as well as policies and procedures to gain information accordingly. Specialized knowledge is requisite to apply this medical information.
Follows instructions on the flowcharts depicting protocols and makes decisions based on the processes described in charts.
Ensures that unit stocks and supplies are available and enough for the operations of the department on a weekly basis.
Checks the availability of the needed equipment and their functionality as necessary in accordance with standards.
May adjust daily schedules to accommodate unforeseen special circumstances such as medical emergencies or crisis.
Performs new work as may be assigned by the Chief Biomedical Technician, Head Nurse, or Medical Director in coordination with the Administration.
