CLIENT BACKGROUND
Our client is a comprehensive accounting firm in Mandeville, Louisiana, specializing in serving businesses of all scales. They recognize the challenges their clients face in decision-making without reliable financial information; they alleviate this burden by ensuring their clients accounting functions are not only effortless but also maintained with precision. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Payroll Management: Process payroll, including scheduling payroll tax payments, preparing quarterly payroll tax returns, and ensuring compliance with federal (941) and state regulations.
- Banking & Reconciliation: Enter bank activity, and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loans to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Journal Entries: Create and post journal entries, understanding their purpose and how they impact financial statements. Proficiency in debits and credits is essential.
- Sales Tax: Prepare and file sales tax returns, ensuring accurate reporting and timely payments.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Client Records Examination: Review and verify accounting records prepared by clients for completeness and accuracy, making necessary adjustments and corrections.
- End-of-Year Processing: Prepare Forms 1099 and W-2 at the end of the year for multiple clients.
- Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients via email and occasional phone calls, addressing any inquiries or concerns related to financials, payroll, and taxes.
- Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 3-5 years of U.S. bookkeeping and payroll experience, ideally within a public accounting practice.
- Proven experience in sales tax preparation and filing.
- Extensive experience using QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop; experience with TaxDome is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently and professionally interact with clients.
