Job Summary: The US Public Accountant is responsible for providing a wide range of accounting services to clients, including preparing financial statements, conducting audits, managing tax filings, and offering financial advice. Must have public accounting experience - that is a must. Knows quickbooks , understands how to analyze a trial balance and make corrections as needed . a must Familiar with US tax , forms 1065 , 1120, 1120s , 1040 and 1041and NYS tax forms . Not necessarily need all forms Should be familiar with financial statement preparation would be helpful.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
- Auditing:
- Conduct audits of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Identify and report on areas of risk and provide recommendations for improvements
- Prepare detailed audit reports for management and regulatory bodies
- Tax Services:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to minimize tax liabilities
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
- Advisory Services:
- Offer financial advice and consulting services to help clients achieve their financial goals
- Assist clients with budgeting, financial forecasting, and strategic planning
- Provide guidance on financial matters, including investments, mergers, and acquisitions
- Compliance and Regulation:
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare and submit reports to regulatory authorities as required
- Client Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing excellent customer service
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their financial needs and objectives
- Address client inquiries and provide timely and accurate financial information
- Internal Controls:
- Evaluate and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy
- Implement best practices in financial management and reporting
- Continuing Education:
- Stay up-to-date with developments in accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations
- Participate in professional development and continuing education opportunities
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
- Proven experience in public accounting or a similar role
- Strong understanding of US GAAP, tax regulations, and auditing standards
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
