URBAN PLANNER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview

The role of the Urban Planner will focus on handling projects related to Local Development Planning. The Urban Planner will develop land use plans and programs that will help create sustainable communities, distribute economic growth, and revitalize infrastructure in municipalities, cities, provinces, regions, and metropolitan areas.

Job Description:

  • Assist the Director and the Project Managers in the crafting of the planning reports which include the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), Zoning Ordinance (ZO), Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), Local Development Investment Program (LDIP), Tourism Master Plans, Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP), and other urban planning reports.
  • Function as a Project Coordinator for small planning projects.
  • Conduct research on land use planning, environmental laws, codes, and zoning ordinances.
  • Write, prepare, and package planning reports.
  • Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the facilitation of workshops which include land use, Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment, and Visioning, and other related planning workshops
  • Assist in the GIS needs of the projects which can include production of maps, digitization, and land use analysis.
  • Conduct site visits to the project sites.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Director and Project Managers.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate Degree in Urban Planning or Bachelor's degree in any related field
  • Must have a Professional License in Environmental Planning from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
  • With a strong background in Urban and Regional Planning and experience in Local Development Planning.
  • The candidate must have min. of 5 years of experience in any related field
  • Excellent analytical, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management and strong communication skills.
  • Experience in public speaking and facilitating workshops is a plus.
  • Willing to do fieldwork and site visits
  • GIS Skills is an advantage
  • Experience in Climate and Disaster Risk Assessment (CDRA) is an advantage
