Responsibilities:

This position involves supervising business unit heads, coordinating logistics, and ensuring seamless transportation services. Leadership and Strategy:
- Provide strategic direction for the transportation department, aligning with overall company goals.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement transportation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Team Management:
- Supervise and mentor business unit heads, including fleet managers, dispatchers, and maintenance teams.
- Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and promote professional growth.
- Ensure effective communication across all levels of the transportation team.
Operational Oversight:
- Monitor daily transportation activities, including route planning, load scheduling, and driver assignments.
- Address operational challenges promptly and implement corrective actions.
- Optimize fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, and compliance with safety regulations.
Performance Metrics:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for transportation operations.
- Regularly review performance metrics related to on-time delivery, driver productivity, and cost control.
- Take proactive measures to meet or exceed performance targets.
Vendor and Partner Management:
- Collaborate with external carriers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure seamless transportation services.
- Negotiate contracts, rates, and service agreements.
- Evaluate vendor performance and address any issues.
Compliance and Safety: - Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and licensing.
- Promote a safety-first culture among drivers and transportation staff.
- Investigate accidents or incidents and implement preventive measures.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Develop and manage the transportation budget.
- Monitor expenses related to fuel, maintenance, and equipment.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
Technology and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements.
- Implement transportation management systems (TMS) and other tools to enhance efficiency.
