Job Description

As a Technical Project Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams to deliver complex technology projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives. From resource planning to risk management, your expertise will guide projects to successful completion, balancing technical and business priorities.

Your Daily Tasks

Project Planning and Strategy

  • Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets based on business and technical requirements.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Identify resource needs and collaborate with the CEO to allocate employees effectively.
  • Manage resources to ensure task completion, monitor team assignments, and maintain project timelines.
  • Prioritize and allocate resources, balancing team capacity and coordinating with third-party vendors as needed.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead cross-functional teams, including technical leads, developers, consultants, and analysts, to ensure project success.
  • Manage the onboarding and integration of third-party vendors to align with project goals and quality standards.
  • Resolve team conflicts, manage dynamics, and motivate team members to meet deadlines.
  • Facilitate regular status updates, keeping all stakeholders aligned on priorities, risks, and progress.
  • Identify skill gaps and recommend training or upskilling opportunities to strengthen team expertise.

Risk Management and Problem Solving

  • Identify and manage potential project risks by developing mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Address project challenges proactively, providing solutions to maintain project trajectory.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.

Budget and Financial Management

  • Collaborate with leadership to create and manage realistic project budgets, considering internal and external costs.
  • Support budget and revenue forecasting efforts with leadership.
  • Track expenses and ensure adherence to financial goals and budgets.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses to maximize project value for the business.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including contracts, budgets, and deliverables.

Technical Leadership and Guidance

  • Review and validate solution designs, system integrations, and data workflows to meet client requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guide discussions during project delivery as needed.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable technical tasks for implementation.
  • Support pre-sales activities by scoping technical feasibility and aligning client expectations with delivery capabilities.
  • Apply a strong understanding of software development lifecycles, system integrations, and enterprise workflows to resolve technical challenges.

Stakeholder Communication and Reporting

  • Act as the primary contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular updates, reports, and presentations to stakeholders.
  • Manage expectations by keeping stakeholders informed about changes to project scope or timelines.

Quality Assurance and Project Delivery

  • Oversee all quality assurance phases to ensure deliverables meet technical and business requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to validate testing outcomes, including system validation, integration testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ensure all project objectives are met, delivering projects on time and within budget.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate completed projects to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.
  • Implement best practices in project management to promote continuous improvement across teams.
  • Document key learnings, achievements, mistakes, frameworks, and solution designs to foster knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor team members to enhance technical skills and project management capabilities.

Requirements

The Qualifications We Seek

Education

  • Bachelor's or college-level degree, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong technical background in one or more of the following:
  • Application development
  • Enterprise integrations
  • Infrastructure management
  • Business analysis
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile Certified Practitioner) are desirable but not mandatory.

Experience

  • At least 3 years as a Lead Project Manager (Waterfall and Agile) managing complex technology projects in mid-to-large-sized businesses.
  • Hands-on technical experience in systems integration, platform configuration, or API development as a systems integrator, developer, technical consultant, or technical business analyst.
  • Proven track record of delivering multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience in integrating workflows and systems and working with APIs.
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in insurance or lending, with a strong understanding of front and/or back-office operations.
  • Experience (2+ years) working closely with no-code/low-code workflow or rules/decisioning platforms, such as:
  • Decisions
  • Pega
  • Outsystems
  • InRule
  • Workato
  • Power Automate

Languages

  • Native-level fluency in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate technical and business concepts clearly.

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Strong technical understanding of enterprise software solutions, including design, development, testing, and delivery, with familiarity in REST APIs and integration patterns.
  • Solid understanding of delivery and go-to-market methods and metrics.
  • Technical knowledge of software development and web technologies.
  • Familiarity with workflow automation platforms or low-code/no-code platforms, with the ability to evaluate and recommend their use.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, including data flow diagrams, integration sequence diagrams, and system requirements.
  • Expertise in testing and validation processes, including system validation and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Proven success in building client relationships, managing expectations, and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work autonomously while maintaining professionalism.

  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Jira).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to embrace change and demonstrate a passion for making a difference.
  • Strong time management skills and composure under pressure.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in pre-sales activities, such as scoping technical feasibility and delivering proof-of-concepts.
  • Knowledge of database design, system design, or enterprise-level architecture principles.

Time Zone Requirements

  • Willingness to work during Australian Eastern Standard Timebusiness hours to collaborate effectively with teams and clients.
