Technical Lead

Job Summary: As a Technical Lead in the Engineering Department, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership, guidance, and expertise to the engineering team. You will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence, ensuring the successful execution of projects, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Your strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and ability to mentor and coach team members will be instrumental in driving the department's success.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering team, ensuring the application of best practices, industry standards, and innovative solutions.
  • Project Execution: Lead the technical aspects of projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements, develop technical specifications, and deliver high-quality solutions within project timelines.
  • Architectural Design: Lead the design and development of scalable, robust, and efficient architectures that align with project requirements and business objectives.
  • Code Review and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough code reviews, promote code quality standards, and ensure adherence to coding best practices, performance optimizations, and security standards.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Address complex technical challenges by analyzing requirements, proposing effective solutions, and guiding the team in implementing them.
  • Mentoring and Coaching: Foster a culture of learning and development by mentoring and coaching team members, providing guidance on technical skills enhancement, and promoting knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Product Management and Quality Assurance, to ensure alignment, effective communication, and successful delivery of projects.
  • Technical Research: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and assess their applicability to the department's projects and goals.
  • Process Improvement: Continually evaluate and improve development processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency within the engineering department.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, such as product owners or clients, to understand their technical requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a technical leadership role within an engineering department.
  • Strong technical background in the relevant field (e.g., web, AR/XR/VR development) with expertise in one or more specialized areas.
  • Extensive experience in software development, including proficiency in programming languages, frameworks, and tools relevant to the department's projects.
  • 3D experience is highly desired. Whether that's specific language/framework experience, or a general knowledge of this nuanced field.
  • Demonstrated experience in architecting and designing scalable and robust systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex technical challenges.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executives.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching team members, fostering their technical growth and career development.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends relevant to the department's domain.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and practices.
