The Technical Center Head will be responsible for managing operations of the Technical Center and leading Technical support across all Actron Divisions and providing Technical Sales Support for the Bakersfield Brand. The Technical Center Manager will partner with R&D and QA to support company objectives.
This role will be key in creation of recipes, ideation of new products/ methods, education and training for staff, partners & customers, process formation and serving as expert resource for customer service.
A degree/certification as a Bread & Pastry Chef is required along with strong managerial and people management skills. A background in Nutrition and Food Technology is a plus.
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Technical Center, drives tasks related to inventory or products, equipment, and materials, and ensures bakery equipment are well maintained
- Responsible for the creation of recipe for client ideation and in-house recipe requests, and safekeeping the in-house recipe library
- Leads product sampling, ensures standard quality of sampling produced by all regions, develops method of sampling for products (props needed, method, and training approach)
- Mobilizes the team to provide technical and logistical support for all sales and marketing events/activities such as live and online product demos, and trade shows. This includes providing orientation for guest Chefs and home bakers, shares technical expertise/provides input with demo facilitators, answers technical questions specific to application of formulation of Bakersfield products, and other logistics requirement such setting up of working bakery and demo area, baked goods and product displays
- Provides support for Key Accounts/One on One demos which include includes creating a recipe that matches the client and assigned sales team requirement, trains and guides in-house Chefs for the demos, provides clients with a sample specification, food costs, and recipes.
- Consolidates and coordinates sample demo requests and demo schedules
- Ensures new members are provided with proper orientation program and education, provide product training, product manuals
- Collaborates with Sales and Marketing in monitoring and processing the requirements for dealer sampling for all regions
- Coordinates with Marketing on schedules of demos, and aligns on requirements
- Coordinates and provides directions to Purchasing Department for tools, items, and services needed for Technical Center
- Coordinates with R&D to provide analysis that may be needed for Bakersfield products, provides technical insights when requested, and ensures requests for application are fulfilled.
- Gathers and shares customer concerns from online platforms to QA Department, works with QA on provides bake and product application tests
- Coordinates with Industrial Food Solutions (IFS) to provide baked sample requests and technical insights
- Provides input on Technical Center budget requirement during budget preparation as aligned with the directions and future strategies
- Monitors expenses, identifies cost saving initiatives, provides support to negotiates rates and payment terms for all Technical Center purchases
- Ensures skills of Technical Center personnel are current and up to date though hands on trainings, and mentoring.
- Monitors the team's performances, designs and proposes training need to upgrade Technical Center expertise
Education and Experience
- Certified Bread and Pastry Chef familiar with Philippine market
- Preferably a Food Technologist and/or Nutrition background
- Background in related industry education (ex: Baking Culinary School)
