GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE JOBProvides high quality patient care in the ward area / station.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knows the philosophy, purpose, objectives, policies and standards of the hospital and the Nursing Service Department.
- Performs direct patient care as indicated.
Assists in the over-all management and coordination of patient care, exercising judgment in delegation of duties to non-professionals.- Performs therapeutic measures prescribed and delegated by medical authorities.
Provide total patient care with utmost observation and evaluation of their symptoms, reactions and progress to be reported and recorded accordingly.
- Assists physician as needed. Interpret patient's needs and assists patients in meeting their needs.
Initiates emergency measures within the prescribed limits.- Direct and control equipment, materials and supplies required in the unit.
Updating and checking the adequacy of stocks especially emergency drugs and other supplies.
- Maintains professional records and maintain good relations with the patients, doctors, patient's relative and other employees.
Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the unit.- May function as charge nurse and performs other duties as required.
In Ward Area Perform bed bath, assists patient with tub or shower, mouth care and simple perennial care; assists in changing of bed linen and gown and overall orderliness of the patient's room.
- Passes and empties bedpans and urinals; measures output or elimination, to be recorded accurately, collection of urine or stool specimen as directed.
Do simple treatment as steam inhalation, compresses, perennial heat, sitz bath, refill and apply ice caps, giving enemas after proper instructions from the immediate superior (Head Nurse/Charge Nurse)- Take vital signs, to be recorded and reported accurately.
Perform morning care or evening care to assigned patien
- Assists in feeding dependent patients; monitor proper diet and fluid intake.
Assists in IV insertion.- Provide post mortem care.
Reports to immediate superior all procedures done and unusual conditions observed.
