Who You Are
This is a unique opportunity to help build out Verkada's global regulatory compliance program. You will be upleveling Verkada's compliance program across the company on a global scale with the company's key business stakeholders, with a particular focus on data security and privacy compliance. You will report to Verkada's Chief Privacy Officer and play a significant role in shaping the direction of the Company's regulatory compliance programs. The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running on day one, excited to roll up their sleeves and dive in while also eager to set the strategic vision (and know how to have fun in the process). We are an in the office company and this role is based in our headquarters in San Mateo, CA.
What You'll Be Expected To Do
Work with key privacy, security, product and marketing leaders at Verkada to help develop and lead the company's legal regulatory compliance program for data, including its operation, policies, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with Verkada's evolving data privacy, ML/AI, marketing and data security obligations
Implement and maintain tooling and processes in support of testing and continuous monitoring of regulatory controls across multiple domains: privacy, marketing, product, security, IT, etc.
Perform annual risk assessments and prepare risk treatment plans, including escalation paths and remediation processes
Work closely with internal and external auditors and assessors to educate them and achieve continuous compliance over the control environment; oversee gathering and maintaining necessary evidence for the audit process
Create procedural documentation, including training materials or process documentation
Communicate progress, escalations, and issue resolution to management and team stakeholders
Own roadmap for continuous compliance across the control population with a goal of increasing automation coverage
Build relationships with a broad range of Verkada employees at all levels to accomplish program objectives
Coordinate and deliver internal data privacy training
What You'll Need
Bachelor's degree from a four year university
6+ years of relevant compliance experience
Ability to effectively and autonomously accomplish outcomes across cross-functional teams in ambiguous situations with minimal supervision
Proven understanding and experience with data privacy technologies
Significant experience with audits, risk and compliance programs
Ability to multitask, prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
Focus on precision and accuracy, and the drive to clarify ambiguity
Expertise in the evolving landscape of data privacy, biometrics, AI/ML regulations with experience spotting emerging trends and new issues
Experience managing privacy technologies for ROPAs/DPIAs/DSARs, etc., and working with GRC tools to monitor and track compliance programs

Pay Disclosure
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada's total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
