SQL Server Reporting Services Developer

Experience:

• Mid-level or Senior Level
• 2-4 Years SQL Server, including SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS) and T-SQL
• Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) or SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services) (Optional but is Preferred).

Technical Skills:

• Strong SQL programming skills (complex queries, stored procedures, indexing, performance tuning).
• Proficiency in SSRS report development, including creating, maintaining, and optimizing reports.
• Knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and reporting design (Optional but is Preferred).
• Familiarity with data visualization principles to create effective reports.
• Understanding of security best practices for report and data access.
• Experience with Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools Report Builder.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy SSRS reports based on business requirements.
• Use SQL and SSRS to pull data from SQL Server databases and display it in meaningful formats, such as tables, charts, and dashboards.
• Customize and parameterize reports as needed to allow end-users flexibility.
• Analyze data to ensure accuracy and integrity in reports.
• Debug and troubleshoot issues related to reports and data discrepancies.
• Collaborate with other developers or IT teams to resolve issues affecting data retrieval and reporting.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for performance.
• Create and manage indexes, views, and stored procedures to ensure reports run efficiently.
• Implement strategies to handle large datasets, including pagination, caching, and filtering.
• Work closely with business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to gather requirements for new reports.
• Conduct report reviews and revisions based on feedback from end-users.
• Document report requirements, design, and functionality for future reference and troubleshooting.
• Maintain existing reports, making updates or changes as business needs evolve.
• Ensure all reports are compliant with security standards and company policies.

Optional

• Work with ETL tools like SSIS if the role involves data integration.
• Automate report delivery through subscriptions or scheduled report generation.

Optional / Nice to have:

• Knowledge of cloud-based SQL Server (Azure SQL) and related reporting services if the organization uses cloud infrastructure
• Experience in Power BI, Tableau, or other visualization tools.

Certifications (optional but preferred):

• Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
