Title: SQL Server Database Administrator
Job Type :Remote
Working hours : US CST 8 AM to US CST 5 PM
The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of applications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and sustainment of the SQL Server Warehouse, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modeling in support of multiple development teams.
Responsibilities:
- Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
- Provide end-to-end database services, both on-prem and in various clouds.This includes L1-L3 support for incident and service request resolution, change management, problem management, compliance management, and proactive strategic planning.
- Perform installation, configuration, patching, maintenance, tuning, and upgrades.
- Create new Microsoft SQL Server instances and configure them, including AlwaysOn availability groups and failover clustering
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
- Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
- Assists in the selection of a database management system and the maintenance of database performance
- Download and install SQL Server service packs and updates.
- Configure and maintain SQL Security controls
- Make recommendations for system architecture per Microsoft SQL Server best practises
- Manage database backup and recovery, as well as disaster recovery planning, in coordination with the IT manager and System Engineer
- Create, change, and improve SQL Server Agent tasks and maintenance plans
- Proactively monitor SQL Server maintenance tasks, troubleshoot failed processes, and address issues as soon as possible
- Perform regular patching of database software and hardware
- Create documentation and training for routine database administration activities, as well as train server operations employees on them
- Perform regular SOX control testing, including privileged access management reviews in coordination with business resources.
- Work in USA Central Time Zone 8AM to 5PM
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of MS SQL Server Administration experience
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
- Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
- Well versed with T-SQL (Transact-SQL) Programming
- Extensive knowledge of SQL and SQL server tools
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server infrastructures
- Extensive knowledge of database technologies (MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL Oracle, MongoDB)
- Prior experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure)
- In-depth understanding of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring requirements
- Familiarity with relational and dimensional data modelling
- Extensive knowledge in database design, implementation, and conversion
- Knowledge of PowerShell and Unix shell scripting
- Experience with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS
- MCSE/MCSA, MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus
