Summary of Position:
Zero Motorcycles is currently looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer. We are looking for an individual to join our design engineering team who will bring a strong focus of quality, verification, and regression testing to our SDLC methodology. This individual will work within a team of electrical and mechanical engineers to test cutting edge electric motorcycles and all the systems that make these vehicles perform safely, predictably, and with performance that excites users. This individual will play a key role in testing our embedded systems firmware, interfaces to the motorcycle, supporting accessories, legacy code, and automated regression systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive validation of high quality, high performance, and production ready software
Utilize Hybrid development methodology and know when to get out of the way.
Ensure quality, from low level software to the end applications.
Support manufacturing by verifying fixture software or any software used during production.
Validate software in simulation and on vehicle.
Define test methods and create test plans for new or updated motorcycle and powertrain firmware projects to determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions.
Recommend design improvements or corrections to engineers throughout the development process.
Maintain effective communication with the project software engineers on project limitation, capability, performance requirement and hardware interface changes.
Required Education/Experience:
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
4+ years industry experience in Quality Assurance
Test/Automation and UI validation tools experience (e.g. PyTest, Robot, Appium or similar automation frameworks)
Experience with one or more of the following: C, Python, Perl or Shell
Identify, reproduce and isolate bugs and drive the issues to completion
Working knowledge of test methodologies, processes, and tools (e.g. JIRA, STLC, TestRails, GIT, Jenkins)
Skilled in integrating project testing with Continuous Integration process (CI/CD)
Experience with development of automotive or mobile products
Skills and Attributes
Proven working experience in software quality assurance or software development.
Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test reports
Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
Experience testing Firmware, Desktop, Web and Mobile apps
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
Knowledge of Linux and Windows systems administration and programming
Understands designing and coding for testability to produce quality code
Mobility devices, EV systems, or battery-operated device experience preferred
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Candidate must be able to sit for long periods of time to perform duties, and to move around and make inquiries from other staff, management as needed.
Must be able to bend or stoop down to access files, including lifting of items or objects up to 50 lbs.
