Job Title: Waiter/Server
- Job Description: A Waiter/Server is responsible for ensuring a pleasant dining experience by providing high-quality service to guests. They take orders, serve food and beverages, and ensure that guests needs are met throughout their visit. Waiters/Servers act as the main point of contact between the kitchen and the customers, ensuring that orders are accurate, timely, and delivered with a smile.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Interaction:
- Greet customers warmly upon arrival and seat them at their tables.
Present menus, answer questions, and offer menu recommendations.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders, ensuring special requests and dietary restrictions are noted.
Communicate customer orders to kitchen staff and bartenders effectively.Service Delivery:
Serve food and beverages promptly and courteously.
- Monitor guests dining experience, responding to additional requests and ensuring satisfaction.
Clear tables and reset them for the next guests efficiently.- Handle customer complaints professionally, escalating issues to the manager if necessary.
Order Management:- Ensure the accuracy of orders and timely delivery to guests.
Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure orders are prepared according to specifications.- Handle food and beverage items safely and in accordance with health regulations.
Billing and Payments:- Prepare and present the bill when requested by customers.
Process payments accurately and promptly, handling cash, credit cards, and other payment methods.- Provide correct change and receipts to customers.
Maintenance and Cleanliness:- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area, including tables, chairs, and service stations.
Ensure all utensils, glassware, and dishes are clean and in good condition.- Assist with restocking supplies, such as napkins, condiments, and silverware.
Team Collaboration:- Work closely with other waitstaff, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operation during service hours.
Participate in pre-service meetings to review specials, menu changes, and any guest-related issues.- Support team members during peak hours by assisting with duties as needed.
Health and Safety Compliance:- Adhere to all restaurant policies, including health and safety regulations.
Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of guests.- Report any hazards, broken equipment, or health and safety concerns to management immediately.
Additional Responsibilities:- Upsell additional menu items, such as desserts or beverages, to enhance the customer experience and increase sales.
Assist with special events or private functions as required.- Participate in training sessions and team-building activities to improve skills and service quality.
Previous experience as a waiter/server in a restaurant or similar setting is preferred.- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
Basic math skills for handling payments and billing.- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
