Your Role:

Structural Design and Analysis
  • Lead Design Initiatives: Oversee the design and analysis of complex structural systems for buildings, homes, and infrastructure projects, ensuring safety and durability.
  • Documentation Development: Create detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documents using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD).
  • Structural Calculations: Perform calculations and simulations to validate the stability and integrity of designs.
Project Leadership
  • Design Oversight: Manage the structural design process from concept to completion, aligning designs with project requirements and client expectations.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate effectively with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate structural designs seamlessly with other project components.
Technical Expertise
  • Advisory Role: Provide expert guidance on structural design, material selection, and construction methods.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay informed on the latest developments in structural design, materials, and building codes.
  • Peer Review: Conduct reviews of structural designs to ensure compliance and adherence to best practices.
Quality Control and Assurance
  • Quality Procedures: Implement quality control measures to maintain the accuracy and integrity of structural designs.
  • Review and Approval: Assess design drawings, calculations, and reports for compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct site assessments to ensure construction aligns with approved designs and identify potential issues.
Regulatory Compliance
  • Building Code Adherence: Ensure all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
  • Permit Preparation: Prepare and submit documentation for necessary permits and regulatory approvals.
  • Regulation Updates: Monitor changes in regulations and update designs and procedures as needed.
Mentorship and Team Development
  • Training: Mentor junior designers on design principles, software usage, and industry best practices.
  • Supportive Environment: Foster collaboration and professional development within the design team.
  • Performance Evaluations: Conduct evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Risk Management
  • Risk Identification: Identify potential risks in structural designs and develop mitigation strategies.

Documentation and Reporting

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree: Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Master's Degree (Preferred): Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
Licensure and Certifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License: Highly preferred in Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Software Certification: Certification in relevant structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro) is advantageous.
Technical Skills
  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in structural design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar tools.
  • Structural Knowledge: Strong knowledge of structural analysis, materials science, and construction methods.
  • Code Familiarity: Familiarity with building codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, Eurocode, IBC) and ability to apply them in design work.
  • Advanced Analysis: Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and other advanced structural analysis techniques.

Prior Experience

  • 2-5 years in project coordination or management within the structural engineering, construction, or related industries.
  • Construction Experience: Required experience in wood frame construction.
  • Project Leadership: Proven track record of leading structural design projects from concept to completion, including managing design teams.
  • Structural Design Familiarity: Knowledge of structural design processes, construction documentation, and relevant building codes.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors.
