The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for handling cost and commercial aspects of a construction project. The position will be involved in pre-contract, post-contract and post-construction stages of the project. The position will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and reports directly to the Project Manager and/or Owner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparation and checking of cost estimates and cost plans. Able to propose value engineering solutions as needed by the project.
- Sourcing of supplier for Owner Supplied Materials, includes evaluation and negotiation of commercial terms.
- Oversees facilitation of bidding, ensures that all procedures and timeline are met. Negotiates price and terms with the contractor and recommends the award of a contract package.
- Prepares contract documents in coordination with the Legal Team and other project stakeholders.
- Able to respond to commercial and contractual issues arising during the conduct of the project. ensures that parties are fulfilling their contractual obligations.
- Monitors status of payments and cashflow projections. Prepares payment certificates as needed.
- Able to identify project risks and strategize to mitigate the risks.
- Familiar with the scope and timeline of the projects handled. Coordinates project scope with the Project Team.
- Coordinates with the Project team which includes Designers, Project Management Team, Legal, Finance and other stakeholders.
- Creates cost reports, statements of accounts and maintains cost and payment monitoring.
- Oversees works of Quantity Surveyors an able to coach them and provide performance feedback regularly.
- Contributes to the enhancement of company procedures and standards.
Requirements
- Must be able to conduct measurements and costing of trade based on his field of experience, or preferably of all trades.
- With background or experience with CSA and MEPF works.
- Proficient in using MS Office applications and Planswift.
- Knowledge with MS Project, but not required.
- College graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any related course.
- Must have a previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or Cost Engineer, preferably in a senior role.
- Preferably with previous experience in supervising Quantity Surveyor (team of at least 3)
- At least with 6 years relevant experience
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
