Job Overview:
As a Senior Network Engineer, you'll oversee daily health checks on network infrastructure, manage real-time monitoring, and address incidents swiftly. You'll maintain Data Center devices, ensure proper installation and maintenance of network equipment, and lead change management processes. Additionally, you'll document procedures, stay current with technologies, and act as a Level 3 escalation for high-severity issues.

Orchestrate the Symphony
- Perform daily health checks on network infrastructure, reviewing device logs and responding to alerts.
- Monitor and maintain proactive real-time monitoring of network devices, connectivity, and utilization to ensure availability, redundancy, and stability.
- Investigate, isolate, and troubleshoot incidents and outages using known and published resolutions.
- Maintain Data Center devices and services to standard operating environments, including proper patch cable structure, correct power cable insertion, operational cooling systems, logbook review, and biometric checks.
- Handle the physical installation, testing, and maintenance of devices such as routers, switches, access points, firewalls, UPS, and other network equipment.
- Actively participate in the change management lifecycle by creating and implementing requests for change (RFC), conducting peer reviews, and attending regular change review meetings.
- Document, create, and update standard operating procedures and best practices for troubleshooting.
- Ensure all tickets (service requests, incidents, changes, problems, etc.) are closed or within the SLA.
- Provide quality customer service to internal or external stakeholders/clients.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging and innovative technologies to improve network infrastructure services.
- Act as Lead Engineer in the absence of the team lead or manager and as a Level 3 escalation for high-severity issues, VIP requests, and project implementation.
- Collaborate in planning, testing, and proof of concept for new firmware, software upgrades, new devices, features, and products.
- Recommend improvements to network engineering principles, processes, and procedures.
- Liaise with other IT departments and partners to resolve problems, incidents, outages, vulnerabilities, bugs, and perform patch remediation.
- Maintain a patch management strategy for network devices, ensuring firmware/software is up-to-date or compliant with best practices and audit requirements.
- Conduct technical peer reviews for standard and normal RFCs.
Skills That Light the Way
Specialists or Subject Matter Experts in at least two of the following fields:
- Network Security: Build, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot next-gen and traditional firewalls.
- Enterprise Routing and Switching: Build, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot WAN/LAN and BGP.
- Data Center: Build, manage, and maintain data center operations.
- Service Provider: Design, plan, recommend, and implement network infrastructure solutions and services.
- Cloud Network: Build, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot Network or Infrastructure as a Service (NaaS/IaaS).
- Wireless Network: Build, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot wireless access points.
- Network Automation or DevOps: Build, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot scripts, playbooks, APIs, and other automation frameworks (Ansible, Python, SALT, LAMP).
Skills and Competencies:
- Preferably 5 to 10+ years of experience as a Network Engineer in a telecom company or Internet Service Provider.
- Certification in CCNP/JNCIS or equivalent is required. ITIL Certification/IT Service Management is also required.
- Expertise in Cisco, HP, Aruba, Juniper, and Mikrotik routers and switches.
- Proficiency in routing and Layer 3 network protocols, including Default, Static, OSPF, BGP, and others.
- Proficiency in switching and Layer 2 protocols, including Ethernet, Fiber Optics, LAN/WAN, VLAN, VxLAN, QinQ, MPLS, EVPL, DLL, STP/MSTP/RSTP, 802.1X, 802.11, Bridge, LaCP/Link Aggregation, and GRE tunnel.
- Expertise in firewall/next-generation firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Juniper, Sophos, WatchGuard), Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IPS/IDS), Access Control Lists, Firewall Filters, NAT, IPSEC, SSL-VPN, and other security profiles.
- Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, TCP/UDP, Radius/TACACS, CMDB, Configuration Management, and Backup.
- Experience in NAC or PacketFence administration is advantageous.
- Expertise in debugging logs and an in-depth understanding of devices to maximize their features.
- Advanced administrative experience with network monitoring systems, including PRTG, Ping Plotter, IPAM, SolarWinds NPM, Zabbix, and Open NMS.
- Scripting/Automation skills (Python, Ansible).
