Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This is an academic position on the Mafikeng campus within the Human Movement Science and Coaching Science program. The Senior Lecturer will play a vital role in launching the Honors program successfully. They will be required to perform Teaching and Learning, Research and Community engagement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning:
- Provide Teaching & Learning to Honors and undergraduate students.
Research
- Self-initiated research supervision and collaboration in research projects.
Academic Leadership, Management, And Administration
- Must represent the School of Management Sciences on Faculty, University, National and International management structures, committees, boards or any other professional body.
- Membership in the School's management structures.
Community Engagement
- Community engagement through implementation of expertise.
Minimum Requirements
- A PhD (NQF level 10) in Sports Science / Human Movement Science / Coaching Science.
- A minimum of three (3) years experience in Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Applied Sports Psychology, Advanced Motor Learning and Sport Science related Coaching fields within formal education settings.
- A minimum of three (3) years research processes experience in conducting research data collection, analyses and reporting of research.
Key Functional/ Technical Competencies
- Experience and knowledge in Sport or Human Movement Science or Coaching Science as well as facilitation skills.
- Experience and basic knowledge in anatomy, exercise physiology, applied sports psychology, advanced motor learning and sport science related coaching fields.
- Good research skills and involvement in research projects within the field of Sport- or Human Movement Science or Coaching Science.
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), emails, the internet and electronic diaries.
- Demonstration of language proficiency to function optimally in the various multilingual environments of the NWU.
Key Behavioural Competencies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to act independently and cooperatively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Ability to function independently, autonomously, systematically, accurately and the ability to perform problem solving.
- The ability to build and maintain sound interpersonal relations and function effectively as part of a team.
