Develops high quality designs for Primary systems for Transmission and Distribution substations and associated power system equipment, guided by the Principal Engineer.
Develops Primary systems for Renewable Energy projects.
Assists with factory and site testing and commissioning of Primary systems where required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ENGINEERING
Undertake engineering, technical analysis and report generation tasks as required.
Ensure technical / engineering designs are compliant with standards and specifications.
Ensure compliance with company / client Quality Policies and Procedures.
Assist with the preparation of tenders.
Assist with project management as required.
Assistance with the commissioning of HV systems as required.
Detailed substation primary systems design, specification, and documentation; engineering
and technical analysis and report generation; earthing design; insulation coordination and
electro-magnetic studies; scoping of primary plant and electrical equipment and fittings.
Create appropriate technical documentation as required; FAT testing as required; assistance
with maintenance and fault finding of installations, carry out systems studies and power
systems analyses as required; pre-commissioning and commissioning of new and refurbished
equipment and systems where required.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
Must have a Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering, Power Engineering or equivalent.
Chartered / Professional Engineer and RPEQ (ideal).
15+ years experience at a senior level with substation design and/or utility grid
connections.
Turnkey project expertise in transmission and distribution substation design from
concept to commissioning including knowledge of industry and different client standards.
Significant experience in substation primary design.
Demonstrated experience in design, including evidence of large project involvement and
the ability to lead designs.
Evidence of a high level of ability in the preparation and review of Engineering Drawings
ISO900/ QA processes and procedures, and AS standards.
Proven experience in preparing tenders.
