Our client is a leading provider of global environmental, social, and governance (ESG) solutions. They enable institutional investors and publicly listed companies to make sustainable decisions based on research and data.
They were founded in the US in 2003, and now have operations in Australia, Japan, Ireland, England, Germany, France and the Philippines, along with several offices in the US.
They employ more than 400 permanent employees across the aforementioned geographies, including approx. 70 in the Philippines, where they started operating just over 2yrs ago via an outsourcing company.
On August 1stthey will go captive having successfully established their own entity in the Philippines, and with a period of rapid growth now planned (with a view to taking the headcount towards 200 in the next 12/18mths) they are seeking a Director of Human Resources, which is a new role for the organization in the Philippines.
The role will initially focus on leading the desired rapid growth of the operation in the Philippines, in tandem with day-to-day responsibility for leading/directing the human resources (HR) department, including the continual development and co-ordination of relevant policies, activities and management of HR staff, whilst ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organization's mission and talent strategy.
Suitable candidates will come with at least 10yrs of experience in a senior level role in human resources (ideally currently at a Director else Senior Manager level), and notable experience in a shared services/captive environment, and ideally previous experience in a start-up company and/or in an environment where they have needed to establish policies, procedures and drive hiring across the organization.
Candidates should possess a well-rounded skill set and experience across the various functions of human resources, combining leadership, financial acumen, operational expertise, and strategic thinking to successfully manage the human resource functions and ensure the delivery of efficient services at the highest level in accordance with the goals and expectations of the organization.
Whilst the ideal candidate profile will be a polished professional, the importance of them being a hands-on operator cannot be understated.
Finally, the importance to the client of applicants/candidates having a keen attention to detail cannot be understated.
From your CV and beyond, close scrutiny will be on this issue given the client's belief that attention to detail increases efficiency, reduces errors, improves the quality of work, and thereafter helps build trust with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. It shows that you take your responsibilities seriously and can be entrusted to handle important tasks with precision and care.
Just plan and simple issues such as spelling and grammatical errors, consistency of formatting, incorrect use of capital letters are all sufficient proof that someone is not paying sufficient attention to the detail, and all applicants are advised to be mindful of this issue from the outset.

.Minimum 10yrs working experience in a captive and/or shared services environment
.Minimum of 5yrs of experience working in a multi-national company in the Philippines

.Proven track record of effectively collaborating cross functionally with both internal and external teams and all key stakeholders (from the very bottom to the very top, aka c-level executives)
.Ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of people at all levels (both internally and externally)
.Have something of an entrepreneurial mindset, a flexible, adaptable, high energy, dynamic and commercially astute character, with a can do mindset, someone with the ability to think outside the box to make it happen whatever the situation

.Previous experience in either the financial data and/or financial research industry would be a significant advantage
.Previous experience working with third-party companies (notably in the area of recruitment) is preferred
.Previous human resources experience in the APAC region (i.e. Japan, and/or Australia) would be beneficial
.Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) in English
.Willing to work flexible schedules to meet the global scope/demands of the role (including weekends and holidays if when necessary).
Additional Role information:
. Whilst the majority of the current Philippine based team work a standard Philippine day shift (approx. 9am to 5pm), the Director of Human Resources will need to adopt a flexible approach to their working hours given the need to implement a variety of issues on the ground during the day, but also considering the fact the role reports into the HR VP who, like a number of other key stakeholders for this position, is based in the US.
..There is a hybrid working arrangement in place, and staff are expected to be on site for 2 to 3 days per week. That said, for the initial phase of this role (i.e. 3 to 6 months) the expectation is that this person will spend the majority of their time physically on site, certainly whilst meeting/ building relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, understanding the company culture, and addressing the numerous issues/actions the role entails.
Given the seniority of this position, thereafter the expectation is that the appointed person should be a responsible individual who puts the needs of the role/organization first, thus treats the working location situation on a business first basis.
