Senior Data Modeler
The Senior Data Modeler will play a crucial role in designing and implementing enterprise-wide data models that support our client operations across 600+ stores. This position is essential for ensuring data consistency, integrity, and efficiency across rapidly expanding business and multi-brand environment. The role requires deep expertise in data modelling techniques and the ability to translate complex business requirements into efficient data structures.
Core Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Data Modeling
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business needs.
- Develop canonical data models for key domains such as customers, products, inventory, sales, operations and supplier.
- Create cross-functional data models and maintain data dictionaries, glossaries, and lineage documentation.
- Implement Medallion Architecture.
2. Standards and Governance
- Establish and maintain data modeling standards, naming conventions, and metadata guidelines.
- Change management processes and version control.
- Participate in data governance committees and enforce compliance with organizational policies.
3. Technical Design and Implementation
- Design specialised data structures for Data Warehouses, operational Data Stores, master Data Management Systems, real-Time Analytics Platforms.
- Implement dimensional models (Kimball methodology), data vault models, and strategies for temporal data and slowly changing dimensions.
4. Collaboration and Documentation
- You will Collaborate with business analysts, data architects,ETL developers and DBAs to ensure the delivery of the project.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs), business glossaries, and technical specifications.
Qualifications
Must have :
- 7+ years in data modeling, including:
- 3+ years in enterprise data modeling.
- 2+ years in retail or healthcare sectors.
- Proven success in large-scale data implementations.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in Data modeling methodologies such as 3NF, Dimensional, Data Vault.
- Modeling tools: ER/Studio, ERwin, Power Designer.
- SQL and database design.
- Metadata management and ETL/ELT processes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and real-time data modeling.
Domain Knowledge
- Strong understanding of retail business processes, supply chain, and e-commerce.
- Master Data Management (MDM) and data governance principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: CDMP, cloud certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure), or data governance certifications.
- Experience in healthcare data modeling or pharmacy systems is a plus.
Technical Environment
- Modeling Tools: Enterprise Architect, ERwin, Visio.
- Databases: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, cloud platforms.
- Development Tools: SQL, version control systems, collaboration platforms.
