The Role: Senior Buyer Global Air Procurement (ID: 0095H7)
Overview: Lead Global Air Procurement. Lead and/or assist in the crafting of procurement strategy and solutions across the global network delivering best-in-industry service, supporting operation excellence, sustainability, and productivity. Lead and support procurement of integrated cross-modal delivery fulfillment models. Able to advance solutions in the market to enable SE to be abreast of the market and key catalyst and driver co-creation with partners in delivery fulfillment solutions.
What will you do
Procurement Leadership
- Create and implement a comprehensive strategy for airfreight and 3PL partnerships that align with overall business objectives
- Manage indirect procurement relationships across various business units
- Lead sourcing events for both long-term and short-term contracts with stakeholders to define scope, sources of supply and overall sourcing strategy
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives such as industry and market analysis & benchmarking, improve lead times and risk mitigation plans
- Achieve overall supply chain efficiency, productivity targets and cost savings continuity through collaboration with partners and business
- Oversee the management and optimization of contracts to ensure compliance, performance, and cost-effectiveness throughout the contract cycle
- Promote air alternative modes of transport to mitigate cost and lower carbon footprint
- Drive sustainability committed targets for carbon abatement with our logistics partners
Sourcing leadership, strategic sourcing.
- Lead Global Request for Quotation (RFQ) or Request for Information (RFI) across the global or regional perimeter. Accountable and responsible for executing the entire cycle of RFQ.
- Good working knowledge of the air cargo market ranging from partners, cargo hub and route network and able to keep professionally current in the air cargo eco-system.
- Working knowledge of sourcing tools for RFQ and able to demonstrate competency in at least one or more tools.
- Sound experience in partner network knowledge, strength on power lanes etc. will be a strong advantage
- Proven knowledge of shipper's forecast, outbound/inbound process, customs relating to air uplift and delivery. Having prior operational knowledge is an advantage.
Stakeholder Management
- Establish and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders by demonstrating humility and a thorough understanding of their needs
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships not limited to Global Logistics Finance, Transport and Logistics, Planning
- Effectively partner with executive stakeholders to align procurement goals with broader company objectives
- Collaborate across teams to ensure procurement strategies are effectively integrated and supported throughout the organization
- Must be a Team Player promoting a culture of trust, respect, and inclusivity within the team
- Be flexible in managing time zones to ensure coverage across all regions
Vendor and External Stakeholder Relationships
- Cultivate and manage strong relationships with external stakeholders and vendors to support long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships
- Oversee supplier performance to guarantee that service level agreements are fulfilled
- Collaborate with the supplier to implement projects aimed at creating business value and enhancing productivity
- Perform Executive Business Reviews with strategic partners
Training and Change Management
- Lead efforts to train teams on new systems, embedding changes smoothly across business unit/department (eg: Spot Quote Tool, MLTRC/Zoning Rate card)
- Ensure the successful adoption of new technologies and processes, facilitating a seamless transition to more efficient practices
Metrics and Reporting
- Track key procurement metrics to monitor efficiency, cost savings, and overall effectiveness of procurement activities. Regularly report on performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, savings achieved, supplier performance, and market insights to be shared with senior management
Who would be successful
- Minimum of 7 years experience in transport or related fields
- Bachelor's degree required in Business Management, Global Supply Chain or a related field
- Knowledgeable about the overall logistics competitive and partner environment
- Having procurement experience in one or modes of operations
- Having a strong operations background in one or modes of operations is necessary
- Well-proven leadership skills, maturity
- Project management and project sponsor experience
- Digitally acute, familiar with MS tools, Tableau etc.
- Strong understanding of a matrixed network a definite plus
- Customs and Dangerous Goods experience preferred
- Strong understanding of carbon efficiency in transportation
- Very strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Financially savvy with Business Case experience
