In this exciting Senior Accountant position, you'll partner closely with the Finance Director, playing a vital role in financial accuracy and transparency. You'll handle essential financial tasks like monthly account reconciliation, journal entry adjustments, and tax preparation coordination. Your work will directly impact the company's operations by managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial planning processes, ensuring smooth, accurate, and compliant financial reporting. Key Responsibilities: Counting More Than Just Beans!
Financial Management
- Verifying completion of all month-end tasks for financial close using the checklist.
- Reconciling all accounts monthly.
- Completing journal entries and adjustments for accurate financials reviewing journal entries from the Bookkeeper.
- Preparing books for tax preparation.
- Collaborating with the Tax CPA to provide necessary financials and resolve tax-related issues.
- Preparing and filing 1099 forms.
- Verifying payroll accuracy before year-end for W2 preparation.
- Coordinating the completion of the annual 5500 form.
- Completing ad hoc requests for financial reporting.
- Managing monthly financials, department spending, broker-level revenue, and gross profit margins.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Accounts Payable
- Receiving, verifying, and processing vendor bills.
- Scheduling bill payments according to company policies and payment terms.
- Managing vendor relationships, resolving bill discrepancies, and maintaining up-to-date vendor information.
- Reconciling accounts payable transactions with bank statements and resolving discrepancies.
- Identifying and establishing standard operating procedures for accounts payable in partnership with the Finance Director.
- Ensuring compliance with internal controls and external payment regulations.
- Reviewing and verifying that all expenses are correctly categorized.
- Forecasting cash outflows related to payable accounts and managing short-term cash needs.
- Maintaining accounts payable aging and recommending the timing of payments.
Accounts Receivable
- Reconciling the accounting system (QuickBooks) and commission tracking system (Dynamics 365/PowerBi) monthly (initially with the Finance Director).
- Tracking and reporting missing commissions with the Finance Director.
- Preparing and managing invoices for Direct Bill groups.
- Preparing reports to support commissions in the Monthly Finance Meeting.
- Reviewing received commissions monthly and identifying missing payments from carriers/clients.
Planning
- Developing the budget for the agency, divisions, and departments with the Finance Director.
- Tracking and reporting budget vs. actuals on a monthly basis.
- Developing and maintaining key performance indicators and tracking with the Finance Director.
- Performing financial impact analysis of proposed budget changes.
- Maintaining the forecast tool with current information.
- Tracking gross margins.
- Developing reports for monthly financials and commissions tracking.
Requirements
We're Looking for the Best Number Crunchers!
- 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Proficiency in PowerBI (highly preferred)
- Previous experience working with US clients or companies (preferred)
