Science Laboratory Technician

Makati Hope Christian School urgently needs a Science Laboratory Technician for Makati and Ortigas Campus.

• Job Summary

Takes full responsibility for all laboratory property, monitors the implementation of policies and rules regarding the use of the laboratory, and ensures optimal use of the laboratory by the different science classes.

• Duties and Responsibilites

a. Coordinates laboratory schedule with the Science teachers and keeps track of the number of students that the laboratory can conveniently accommodate

b. Prepares and checks the following:

Schedule of the science laboratories to ensure optimal use

Use of laboratory manuals for each subject offering with the respective teachers

Availability of the equipment/chemicals pertinent to the subject offering

Purchase of chemicals/equipment/specimens or special or complicated equipment for updating purposes, and preparation of proper requisitions

Schedule of duties of the laboratory aide

Systematic procedure in issuing apparatus and chemicals to every group in the different science classes

c. Requests repair of fixtures as needed

d. Reports to the Principal/Physical Facilities Head the areas in the laboratory that need improvement for the latter to act upon

e. Updates charts and other visual aids for more effective teaching

f. Checks stock level of materials weekly to maintain the daily request of the teachers in their respective classes

g. Checks the inventory lists and updates record files of acquisitions, purchases, catalogues, and other pertinent materials

h. Orients laboratory users on the preventive maintenance program pertinent to the use of the laboratory

i. Assists teachers in the implementation of critical laboratory activities (young students, experiments that may involve risks-heating)

Maintains the Science Laboratories and their equipment in good order.

Arranges for the cleaning of the sinks, bench tops, cabinets, etc.

Stores materials and looks after animals and plants kept by their department

j. Prepares science materials and equipment

Prepares experiments, and set up apparatus and equipment for demonstration as requested by the teacher

Prepares chemicals and solutions a. Informs the staff regarding problems with materials or safety k. Performs other related tasks

What we need from you:

• Candidate must possess a Bachelor's/College degree in Science or related field.

Preferably with relevant laboratory experience or teaching experience in Science.

• Ability to work in a team, with a warm personality and a flexible attitude.

Must be detail-oriented, flexible and resourceful.

• Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

• Can work in Ortigas Campus or in Makati Campus
