Job Summary: The Sample Maker plays a pivotal role in garment production by producing prototype garments according to design specifications. This role involves interpreting design sketches or patterns to create sample garments that serve as prototypes for mass production. The Sample Maker collaborates closely with designers, pattern makers, and other stakeholders to ensure the accurate interpretation of design concepts and the implementation of quality standards.
Interpret design sketches, technical drawings, or pattern drafts to understand garment specifications.
- Select appropriate fabrics, trims, and materials for sample production.
Cut fabric pieces according to pattern templates or measurements, ensuring precision and accuracy.- Assemble garment components using sewing machines, sergers, and other equipment.
Conduct fittings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and alignment.
- Execute various garment construction techniques, such as stitching, seaming, hemming, and finishing.
As specified, Incorporate design details, such as pockets, zippers, buttons, and embellishments.- Work closely with designers, pattern makers, and technical teams to address design challenges and refine sample prototypes.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including properly storing materials and equipment.
- Adhere to production timelines and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Assist in developing production patterns and technical specifications based on sample feedback.- Participate in quality control processes to ensure samples meet established fit, construction, and finish standards.
Proven experience as a Sample Maker or similar role in the garment industry.- Proficiency in garment construction techniques, including cutting, sewing, and finishing.
Strong knowledge of fabrics, materials, and garment components.
- Familiarity with pattern interpretation and adjustment.
Ability to interpret design concepts and translate them into tangible prototypes.- Attention to detail and precision in garment assembly and finishing.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
