Pag-asa Steel seeks a Safety and Environmental Officer who will be responsible for ensuring the application of safety, health, and environmental programs in the organization to prevent hazards and minimize risks in the workplace and to promote safe work practices.
- Key tasks and responsibilities include:
Acting as an advisory capacity on all matters pertaining to health, environment, and safety
- Coordinating and conducting regular health and safety training programs for the employees
Conducting regular health, safety, housekeeping, and firefighting equipment inspection and submitting regular status reports- Coordinating and assisting the waste disposal committee in the management and disposal of plant generated waste and disposable items
Maintaining, implementing, and continuously improving a disaster control plan in coordination with the disaster control committee and/or plant safety committee
- Maintaining an efficient accident/incident recording and reporting system, and coordinating and monitoring the effectiveness of preventive and corrective actions
Analyzing and reviewing accident reports, conducting accident investigation, and submitting recommendations to the plant safety committee- Providing assistance to government agencies in the conduct of safety and health inspection, accident investigation, or related programs
Liaising with the city, provincial or municipal Environmental Offices, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Working Conditions and other related government agencies
- Initiating the conduct of regular health, environment and safety meetings, fire drills, oil spill drills and other emergency preparedness drills
Overseeing planning, inspection, and implementation of building and ground maintenance activities- Performing other related tasks that may be assigned by supervisor
- Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications
Preferred candidates will exhibit the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant prior experience
At least three years experience in heavy industrial facilities or steel rolling mills- With Basic Occupational, Health and Safety Skills (BOSH 40 hrs)
Knowledge in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 Management Systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills- Service orientation, outstanding interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently
Project management, risk management, and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task, adapt, and learn quickly
Superior organization skills and attention to detail- Strong record management, project management and time management (prioritization) skills
Strong negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and email software mandatory, experience with ERP software a plus
