BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- To diagnose and manage various cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and valvular heart disease.
To provide compassionate and effective patient care, including conducting thorough medical histories, performing physical examinations, and interpreting diagnostic tests like electrocardiograms (ECGs) and echocardiograms.- To develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's condition, which may include prescribing medications, recommending lifestyle modifications, or performing invasive procedures like angioplasty or cardiac surgery.
To educate patients about their heart health, explain treatment options, and offer guidance on lifestyle changes such as diet, exercise, and smoking cessation.
- To collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, surgeons, and cardiac rehabilitation
specialists, to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.- Cardiologists are responsible for accurately diagnosing cardiovascular diseases and conditions through patient history evaluations, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (ECGs), echocardiograms, stress tests, and cardiac catheterizations.
Based on their diagnoses, cardiologists develop personalized treatment plans for patients. This may involve prescribing medications to manage conditions like hypertension, coronary artery disease, or arrhythmias. They may also recommend lifestyle modifications such as diet, exercise, and smoking cessation.
- They oversee non-invasive procedures including stress echocardiography, treadmill stress test, and vascular ultrasound to assess heart function and vascular health.
Cardiologists monitor patients progress closely through regular follow-up visits, adjusting treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes and prevent disease progression.
