Operational Responsibilities: Undertake front of house duties, including meeting, greeting and attending to the needs of guests, to ensure a superb customer service experience
Build a good rapport with all guests and resolve any complaints/issues quickly to maintain high quality customer service
Deal with guest requests to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay.
Assist in dealing with customer complaints in an effective and courteous manner, providing or seeking solutions as quickly as possible
Administer all routes of reservations to ensure that room bookings are made and recorded accurately
Ensure that all reservations and cancellations are processed efficiently
Maintains waiting list and coordinates seating when on a waiting list
Report any maintenance, breakage or cleanliness problems to the Restaurant Manager
Undertake any other ad-hoc duties (bar and restaurant work) relevant to the post, as and when required
Open the door for each guest, greet him or her upon entering and assist guests when on a waiting list
Escort guests, as soon as possible, to appropriate table and informs guests of their names
Presents open menus to guests and offers assistance if necessary
Serve guests and creates a warm and fun atmosphere for both guests and employees
Answer questions about food and drinks including their ingredients, preparation and accompanying items
Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs and special requests
Take drink order at guest greeting, delivers beverages and offers appetizers
Takes entire order and repeats order to guests for clarification
Merchandise menu items, such as appetizers, entrees, beverages and desserts
Attend to guests needs when delivering food and checks back to ensure guest satisfaction
Observe guests to respond to any additional needs
Maintain table appearance by pre-bussing, checking drink levels, changing ashtrays, removing clutter and providing extra napkins if necessary
Total bill and present check upon removal of last plate or upon request
Notify Restaurant Manager if any guest that is perceived to be unhappy
Bid farewell to guests as they leave
Ensure everything was satisfactory and invite guests to return
Ensure all menu boards are clean
Performs shift change and/or closing duties
Answers telephone within two rings and transfers calls or answers questions accordingly
Know by heart and follow the company's standard operation procedures
Keep the Restaurant Supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken
Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position
Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees and purveyors to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate, which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity and efficiency/effectiveness
At all times provides a favorable image of Rue Bourbon aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all of its areas of endeavor
