Job Description: Beverage R&D Specialist Coffee Industry
Position Overview:
The Beverage R&D Specialist in the coffee industry is responsible for developing innovative coffee beverages and improving existing products. This role involves researching market trends, experimenting with new ingredients and brewing techniques, and ensuring the quality and consistency of coffee products. The specialist will work closely with marketing, production, and quality assurance teams to bring new coffee creations to market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Development:
Create new coffee beverages, including hot and cold drinks, by experimenting with different ingredients, flavors, and brewing methods.
Develop recipes and formulations for coffee blends, syrups, and other components of coffee beverages.
Conduct sensory evaluations and taste tests to refine product formulations.
- Market Research and Trends:
Monitor industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor products to identify opportunities for innovation.
Analyze market data and customer feedback to guide product development efforts.
Stay updated on advancements in coffee brewing technology and ingredient sourcing.
- Quality Assurance:
Ensure all coffee beverages meet the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular quality control tests and sensory evaluations on new and existing products.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address any product quality issues.
- Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with marketing teams to develop product positioning, branding, and promotional strategies.
Partner with production teams to scale up recipes and ensure consistent product quality in mass production.
Communicate product development progress and findings to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Innovation and Experimentation:
Experiment with new brewing techniques, coffee bean varieties, and flavor combinations.
Explore the use of sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients.
Develop prototypes and conduct pilot tests to evaluate new product concepts.
- Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of product formulations, experiments, and sensory evaluations.
Prepare reports and presentations on product development progress and outcomes.
Document standard operating procedures for new products and processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Proven experience in beverage development, particularly in the coffee industry.
Strong knowledge of coffee brewing techniques, coffee bean varieties, and flavor profiles.
Experience with sensory evaluation and quality control processes.
Creative and innovative mindset with a passion for coffee.

Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant R&D software.
