QUANTITY SURVEYOR:

1. Cost Estimation:

• Prepare accurate estimates of construction costs based on designs, materials, and labor requirements.
• Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of proposed projects.

1. Budget Preparation:

• Develop detailed budgets for projects and advise on financial implications.
• Provide cost advice during design stages to ensure designs are within budget.

1. Tender Management:

• Prepare tender documents, including bills of quantities (BoQs).
• Evaluate contractor bids to ensure fair pricing and compliance with project requirements.

1. Contract Management:

• Assist in drafting and negotiating contracts with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Construction Phase

1. Cost Control:

• Monitor project costs and track spending to avoid budget overruns.
• Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and suggest value engineering options.

1. Payment Certification:

• Verify and approve contractor progress claims and prepare interim payment certificates.
• Ensure all work is completed to specification before authorizing payments.

1. Variation and Change Management:

• Assess and agree on variations to the project scope, ensuring accurate pricing and documentation.
• Mitigate disputes over cost changes or additional work.

Post-construction Phase

1. Final Accounts Preparation:

• Settle final project accounts with contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure all costs are accounted for and discrepancies resolved.

1. Claims Management:

• Evaluate and negotiate claims for delays, disruptions, or changes in scope.
• Provide recommendations on dispute resolutions when necessary.

Other Responsibilities

1. Risk Management:

• Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with the project.
• Analyze and report potential risks to stakeholders.

1. Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide regular cost reports and financial updates to stakeholders.

1. Sustainability Considerations:

• Promote sustainable construction practices by selecting cost-effective and eco-friendly materials.
• Assess lifecycle costs of construction materials and methods.
