Job Purpose: As a Purchasing Officer, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing of construction materials, equipment, and services essential to our projects. Your role will ensure timely procurement, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of our operations.
Procurement Planning and Strategy:- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project timelines and budgetary requirements.
Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their products and services.- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure advantageous pricing and favorable terms.
Purchase Order Management:- Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with project requirements and company policies.
Monitor order status and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to project sites.- Resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and supplier invoices.
Supplier Relationship Management:- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering partnerships based on trust and mutual benefit.
Evaluate supplier performance and conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.Inventory Control and Management:
Coordinate with warehouse and site personnel to manage inventory levels and ensure availability of materials as per project schedules.
- Implement inventory management practices to minimize surplus and optimize storage space.
Cost Management and Budgeting:
- Monitor procurement expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or delivery schedules.
Prepare budget forecasts and reports on procurement activities for management review.
- Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or similar role in the construction or related industry.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.- Familiarity with procurement software and systems (e.g., ERP software).
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of construction materials and industry regulations is preferred.
