Position Description
The Proposal Specialist position is a support position primarily responsible for utilizing our proposal repository (Qvidian) to resolve question and answer pairs in solicitations (for corporations, law firms, and government customers). The Proposal Specialist will also regularly help to ingest new question and answer pairs into Qvidian to help expand the repository and increase its effectiveness for future solicitations.

Primary Responsibilities
- Work closely with Manager of Proposal Resources who will be assigning work projects and facilitating training and skill development.
- Understand requirements of formal solicitations (RFPs/RFQs/RFIs) and other procurement vehicles from corporations law firms, and government customers.
- Collaborate with key internal partners (e.g., Sales team, Sales Specialists/Sales Engineers, Product Development, Security Coordinators, and other Subject Matter Experts) to complete and respond to the formal solicitation.
- Using our proposal repository (Qvidian), provide complete and accurate responses to solicitation questions that are in compliance with solicitation requirements.
- When necessary/applicable, write customer-facing responses to specific customer inquiries and assist with customer-requested forms, certifications, and disclosures related to a solicitation.
- Work with the Knowledge Manager to help maintain and enhance our electronic repository of standard proposal content and question and answer pairs that are used to efficiently respond to solicitations and other procurement processes.
- Report on proposal activity to assist with reporting metrics.
Other Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to Proposal Managers on complex solicitations and collaborate with Procurement Associates and other team members as necessary.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of best practices and streamlining of processes and tools to effectively manage the ever-increasing volume of workflow.
- Evaluate proposal success rates to identify potential areas for process improvements to help ensure our proposals evolve and improve over time.
- Assist with miscellaneous projects as needed.
Qualifications/Experience
This position requires a combination of professional writing experience, project management, technical aptitude, an understanding of Thomson Reuters products. Specific qualifications include the following:

- 4-year college degree required (BA or BS).
- Must possess a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Must take ownership of projects and work to complete projects accurately and on time.
- Ability to work under pressure to manage multiple priorities, often with competing and tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills; ability to learn new products/technologies quickly.
- Ability to identify process improvements and/or gaps and escalate those opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrated soft skills, including the ability to effectively interact, communicate, and work well as a team member.
- Expert knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with proposal writing preferred, especially in response to formal solicitations.
- Membership in a professional proposal organization such as the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP).
- Experience with proposal creation software (e.g., Qvidian or Loopio)
