To assists and supports the Dean of Maritime Education in the implementation of academic and operational rules and regulations. He/she is directly supervising Marine Transportation Program faculty members, and cadets, and staff in his/her area of responsibility.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of Marine Transportation program.
- Plans and implements the approved Marine Transportation program, procedures in compliance with external and internal statutory / regulatory bodies in accordance to established policies and procedures of the academy.
- Assist the Dean of Maritime Education in the development of Marine Engineering Program and its curricular and extra-curricular activities; and monitor its implementation.
- Assist the Dean of Maritime Education in curriculum and course review of the marine engineering program to ensure suitability to the current requirements of the shipping industry and shipping principals.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance of Marine Transportation program and suggest improvement in the academic program delivery processes for Marine Transportation.
- Conduct classroom observation and evaluate the teaching effectiveness of Marine Transportation faculty.
- Performs teaching and research activities as support to scholastic excellence.
- Plans and prepares class schedules, faculty load plan, and classroom and laboratory schedules, in coordination with the Dean of Maritime Education and Academy Registrar.
- Monitors academic performance of cadets and submits their grades to the Dean of Maritime Education and Academy Registrar.
- Participates to community extension activities initiated by the Academy
- Escalate major issues and concerns to Dean of Maritime Education for appropriate action.
- Formulation and implementation of Policies and Guidelines
- Suggest policies, guidelines and procedures related to academic program delivery
- Implements approved guidelines, policies, procedures related to academic program delivery activities.
- Participates in the review of existing policies and procedures of the department and propose revisions, amendments, and actual implementation.
- Strategic Planning
- Prepares plans and programs related to the Marine Transportation program delivery activities and endorsed to the Dean of Maritime Education.
- Propose relevant training program of Marine Transportation faculty.
- Prepares budget for the Marine Transportation program delivery activities and endorse to the Dean of Maritime Education.
- Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation holder
Master's degree in line with the area of specialization
Management level officer.
Completed training course for instructors, training course on assessment, examination and certifications of seafarers and training certificate for train the simulator trainer and assessor course.
12 months of seagoing experience as management level officer
3 years of teaching experience
