Job Responsibilities:
- Directs the development of packaging properties and materials requirements, or innovation and improvement on present packaging products of both local and foreign clients, taking into consideration quality standards and price competitiveness.
Performs technical field service to present and new clients to understand customer's packaging requirements and define order technical feasibility.
Monitors, reviews, analyzes and provides conclusions on the results of the following activities/tests:
Competitor's product analysis to be able to match or determine materials specifications for an equivalent or improved product for client/s.
Laboratory product/package compatibility tests to determine shelf life of products using recommended specifications; stability testing on laminates to determine the suitability of packaging materials.
Evaluation of raw materials for development to determine suitability and/or substitute materials for cost reduction.
- Coordinates with Sales, Logistics, Production, and Quality Control from product trial run phase until the commercial production stage.
Determines and sets standards for products and raw materials through monitoring of product internal technical specifications.
- Provides post-sales assistance to clients.
Provides information to clients regarding laminate and its use.
Provides technical support to customers operations in the use and handling of our products in their production line. Recommends process and/or procedures for package conversion in accordance with client's machine capability.
Designs trainings modules and conducts training of customers on technical applications and operational requirements related to the use of company product lines.
- Keeps up pace with raw materials and packaging product innovations through continuous communications and interactions with company affiliates, constant market monitoring, meeting with suppliers, attendance to conferences, congresses, and workshops.
- Reviews and approves technical validation of new raw materials and suppliers.
- Supervises and coordinates preparation and evaluations of special projects for product development.
- Identifies training needs, design training modules and conduct technical trainings.
- Approves and signs all documents required for product patent registration and approval of relevant government offices/agencies.
- Spearheads development and implementation of process control systems.
- Sets new targets for machine and production outputs upon installation of process control interventions.
- Initiates the acquisition of new machines and equipment or conducts technical feasibility to support machine acquisition proposals.
- Monitors new products (new specifications) on initial production run to validate technical feasibility and optimize machine performances related to scarp level, speed, set-up tine, etc.
- Monitors new raw material on initial run to validate process acceptability and evaluate process performance.
- Conducts machine capability and/or laboratory research for production and process quality of new raw material or product.
- Monitors behavior of complex raw materials and introduces measures to achieved required standards.
- Performs functions as outlined in the General Duties and Responsibilities of Section Heads.
- Executes other directives from superior.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of Chemical Engineering or B.S. Chemistry; preferably with post-graduate degree; license holder.
Minimum 5 years experience in Product research and development; laboratory analysis, converting process.
Adept in the development of flexible packaging; innovative materials and cost-effective formulations; and development of production process.
Knowledge in competitor product analysis; materials specifications; laboratory product/package compatibility test; and evaluation of raw materials.
Experience working for a multinational, unionized and highly diverse cultural environment.
