A Technical Evaluator (also known as Procurement Officer) is responsible for supervising the procurement process for materials, supplies, and equipment needed for engineering projects. He/She plays a crucial role in ensuring that the company has a reliable and timely supply of materials, which is essential for the successful execution of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing: Developing and implementing procurement strategies for engineering projects, including sourcing and procurement of raw materials, equipment, and components needed for manufacturing, construction, or other engineering projects can provide high-quality materials and equipment at competitive prices.
- Supplier Management: Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Cost Management: Identifying cost-saving opportunities, negotiating favorable payment terms, and managing the procurement budget to optimize spending.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory levels, forecasting demand, and ensuring adequate stock of materials and supplies to support ongoing engineering projects.
- Technical Knowledge: Having a strong understanding of engineering materials, components, and specifications to effectively evaluate supplier offerings and make informed procurement decisions
- Project Coordination: Collaborating with engineering teams to understand technical requirements, specifications, and industry standards for procurement of engineering products and services. Including timelines, and ensuring that the procurement process aligns with project schedules
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies, and mitigating risks associated with procurement activities.
- Team Leadership: Supervising and mentoring a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective procurement operations.
Qualifications:
- Must be a Graduate of any Engineer courses.
- At least 5 years experience in quantity surveying, purchasing and administration management in major infrastructure tenders
- Experience on site will be highly valued.
- Have a strong moral code and living in it.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multi-tasking and prioritization.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written), including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organize and prioritize demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
