Undertakes and manages Secondary related engineering tasks from the definition of client requirements, task planning, monitoring, and control scope.
Develops high quality designs for Secondary systems for Transmission and Distribution substations and associated power system equipment.
Develops Secondary systems for Renewable Energy projects.
Assists with factory and site testing and commissioning of Secondary systems where required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ENGINEERING
Undertake engineering, technical analysis and report generation tasks as required.
Devise designs compliant with client and industry standards and specifications.
Provision of assistance with preparation of tenders.
Assist with procurement and project management as required.
Provision of assistance with engineering, technical analysis, and report generation.
Assistance with Design and Project Management in specialist areas of expertise; provide
technical and engineering assistance to team members.
Secondary Design: System concept design, detailed design, specifications, drawings,
configurations, and documentation.
Protection Design: Concept design and implementation of protection systems commonly
encountered in Transmission and Distribution substation projects for various Utility and
non-Utility clients.
Design: Panel schematics and general Arrangements, BOM, wiring/cabling design.
Testing: Factory and Site Acceptance testing of Secondary and Protection systems, fault
finding and rectification where required.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
Must have a Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or equivalent.
Chartered / Professional Engineer and RFEQ (ideal)
Technical
15+ years experience at a senior level with substation design and/or utility grid connections.
Turnkey project expertise in transmission and distribution substation design from concept to
commissioning including knowledge of industry and different client standards.
Significant experience in substation design.
Expert knowledge of different Secondary and Protection products and communications
protocols as typically used on substation and renewable energy projects.
Proven track record to configure and fault-find different Secondary and Protection hardware and
platforms.
ISO900/ QA processes and procedures, and AS standards.
Proven experience in preparing tenders.
