DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to standards set by the state agencies prior construction or installation of pollution control facilities including application and securing of necessary pollution permits and renewal thereof
Identify significant environmental aspects and impacts of operational activities and recommend possible mitigating measures.- Supervise the proper operation and maintenance of pollution control facilities of the establishment like wastewater treatment facilities, air pollution control devices, hazardous waste storage areas, and solid waste management facilities.
Initiate environmental management activities, including environmental awareness campaigns within the organization
- Report within reasonable time to the Authority any environment incidents or exceedances in effluent and/or emission standards, and the estimated and actual date of completion or repair and operation
Submit Self-Monitoring Reports (SMRs) and Compliance Monitoring Reports (CMRs) periodically.- Maintain liaison with the city/provincial/municipal or local pollution control officers;
Regularly conduct and attend meeting with ESHS committee to share best practice techniques
- Attend meetings and assembly for Pollution Control Officers which may from time to time becalled by the Authority;
Handle other matters of environmental concerns as required
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Position Requirements:- Must have a Bachelor's degree in any technical course
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the same capacity or background
- Must be accredited accredited Pollution Control Officer (PCO)
Competency Requirements:
- Knowledge in EHS legislations and procedures
Experience in writing policies and procedures for health and safety Knowledge on potentially hazardous materials or practices
- With good command of English Language
Excellent interpersonal skills Problem-solving skills
