_Job Summary:_Nuclear medicine technologists are trained to administer radioactive drugs, then perform nuclear imaging using specialized cameras. The technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals before beginning a scan radioactive drugs that patients receive through intravenous injection. The technologist works closely with the nuclear medicine physician. This role may require working in shifts, so flexibility is a plus.

_- _Job Duties and Responsibilities:_
a. Performs quality control of PET/CT camera prior the start of procedures.
b. Prepare and ensure new linen, blanket, and specific apparatus needed for the procedure per patient.
c. Explain the procedure to the patient and direct to remove any metallic accessories, change diaper if there is any, drain excretion containers attached to the patient that may cause image artifacts.
d. Notes any specific patient comments which might indicate the need for additional images or might be useful to the physician in interpreting the results of the procedure.
e. Transfer, position and instruct the patient accordingly, and give breathing instruction.
f. Perform patient imaging procedures using sophisticated radiation-detecting instrumentation
g. Perform standard protocol of PET/CT examination in accordance to each individual's case
h. Assists the radiologic technologist in patient positioning and scanning, in scan images processing and release.
i. Accomplish computer processing and image enhancement.
j. Provide images, data analysis, and patient information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
k. Send to MIWP and MMWP for doctor's viewing
l. Select technical factor (kvp & mAs) to provide quality image with an optimum use of radiation.
m. Assists the nurse in administering radiographic contrast media using the automatic injector
n. Knowledgeable on the basic functions of machine and troubleshooting
o. Able to determine acute allergic reaction from the administration of contrast media co-managed by PET/CT Nurse.
p. Checks the reconstruction of images if completely uploaded.
q. Seeks the physician's call for additional scan before advising the patient to go home.
a. Performs constancy check using BA 133 and Cs 137 on a daily basis with a dose calibrator and keeps a record thereof.
b. Receive radiopharmaceutical from Khealth Corporation rider.
c. Check for any precautions the patient may have.
d. Check for patient allergies and other medical condition that needs special attention.
e. Takes extra precaution to prevent radioactive spill.
f. Obtain / insert and remove IV punctures at different parts of the body observing the optimum level and quality of care.
g. Monitors patient for any adverse reactions and ensures that the tubing, bandage and needle star in place for the entire duration of the procedure.
h. Prepare and administer radioactive chemical compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals.
i. Facilitates the administration of the radioactive tracer thru a patent Intravenous line, in accordance to the standards set by the PNRI practicing the ALARA radiation safety principle and document as required.
j. Co-manage with the PET/CT Nurse the patient's condition when adverse reaction happen.
k. Monitors the patient's physical condition during the course of the procedure.
l. Assists the radiologic technologist in patient positioning and scanning, in scan images processing and release.
m. Accomplish forms being required of PNRI for compliance.
n. Reassess and document interventions and desired outcomes.
o. Monitors and ensures the safety of patients at all times.
p. Assists injecting contrast media to patient with radiologic technologist assistance.
q. Performs closely with other member of the health care team, including but is not limited to consultants/ Radiology Physicians and Nuclear Medicine doctors.
r. Reassessing patients after their procedure and providing care until they are ready to be discharged.
s. Responsible for safe and secure storage and use of the radioactive pharmaceutical maintaining statuary records of.
t. Monitor the area including patient lounges for any sign of radioactive contamination and directly inform the RSO and ARSO.
u. Perform other duties as needed and deemed necessary by the supervisor.
a. Takes medical history, summarizes data and states nursing diagnoses or patient care needs.
b. Observes and records signs, symptoms, and behavior including physiological and mental status of patients, presents the assessment of changes, the proposed revision of interventions and desired outcomes.
c. Demonstrates the ability to assess patients understanding and compliance with instructions and health care teachings.
d. Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during procedures.
e. Obtain and interpret laboratory data, pathology reports when available, review of preparations and medication, pertinent vital signs including capillary blood glucose monitoring.
f. Discuss with patients and relatives the potential side effects of the contrast media or the radioactive pharmaceutical and what must be done after the procedure.
g. Assess patients tolerability of the procedure and must obtain a secured consent on behalf of the medical team.
h. Responsible for securing patient's or patient's authorized representative consent before any steps necessary for procedure is done.
i. Check patient Capillary Blood Glucose before the start of procedure.
j. Perform other duties as needed and deemed necessary by the supervisor.
- Will cover Radiologic Technologist and Registered Nurse duties during absence.
- _Qualifications:_
- Graduate of B.S. Medical Technologist
- At least 1 year experience in Nuclear Medicine
- Preferably with Intravenous Therapy training
