Job Description

Responsibilities:

PACS Administration
  • Knowledge of DICOM, HL7, medical imaging standards. - Server and database management.
  • Understanding of imaging modalities and PACS integration.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity practices in healthcare.

PACS IT Support
  • IT troubleshooting skills, especially in healthcare
  • Knowledge of network architecture and data transmission protocols.
  • Basic understanding of medical imaging equipment and DICOM standards.
  • Strong communication skills.
Radiology Informatics
  • Strong knowledge of radiology workflows and PACS.
  • Expertise in DICOM, HL7, PACS, and RIS integration.
  • Ability to manage large volumes of data.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills in healthcare systems.

Imaging Systems Analysis
  • Expertise in PACS, RIS, EMR systems, and databases like SQL.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data security and compliance.
  • Technical and clinical problem-solving skills.

PACS Trainer/Support Coordinator
  • Presentation and training skills.
  • Familiarity with clinical workflows in radiology.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Knowledge of PACS functionality and healthcare systems.

Qualifications:

PACS Administration:
  • Knowledge of DICOM and HL7 standards: Essential for
    understanding image transfer and communication within the
    PACS and with other healthcare systems.
  • Hands-on experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of direct
    experience administering a PACS in a clinical setting.

Look for candidates who have:
  • Installed, configured, and maintained PACS software and
    hardware.
  • Managed user accounts and access permissions.
  • Troubleshooted system errors and connectivity issues.
  • Worked with vendors to resolve technical problems.
  • Performed system upgrades and migrations.

Familiarity with these PACS is helpful NOT mandatory:
  • Intelerad Products (Inteleviewer, InteleBrowswer, IntelePACS, InteleConnect, InteleViewer, ProtonPACS),
  • Nuance PowerScribe
  • Osirix Products [Mac based] (Osirix Web, Osirix MD, 3rd
    Party Plug ins)

Proven training experience:
  • Developed and delivered training materials and sessions for
    different user groups.
  • Provided ongoing support to PACS users, both in-person and
    remotely.
  • Created user documentation and training manuals.
  • A knack for explaining technical concepts in a clear and
    understandable way.
  • Experience with adult learning principles: Understanding how
    adults learn best will help them tailor their training approach for
    maximum effectiveness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Essential for
    building rapport with users and providing effective support.

IT Skills:
  • Networking fundamentals: Understanding of network
    infrastructure and troubleshooting.
  • Server administration: Basic knowledge of server hardware and
    operating systems.
  • Database management: Familiarity with database concepts and
    data management principles.
  • Cybersecurity awareness: Understanding of data security and
    privacy best practices.

Radiology Workflow:
  • Understanding of radiology operations: Knowledge of how a
    radiology department functions, including image acquisition,
    interpretation, and reporting workflows.
  • Experience with modalities: Familiarity with different imaging
    modalities (e.g., X-ray, CT, MRI) and their associated workflows.
  • Exposure to RIS/HIS integration: Understanding how the PACS
    interacts with the Radiology Information System (RIS) and
    Hospital Information System (HIS).

General Experience:
  • Project management experience: Helpful for managing PACS
    upgrades or implementations.
  • Scripting or programming skills: Useful for automating tasks or
    developing custom solutions.
  • Experience with cloud-based PACS.
