Operating Room Nurse Manager

The Operating Room Nurse Manager is responsible for effective and efficient coordination in the delivery of nursing care and services to client from pre-operative to post-operative phase, personnel management, referrals to management for urgent decision making and accomplishment of reports for management information.

• Duties & Responsibilities

Aid the Chief Nurse in preparing annual operating plan and budget reports; formulation and implementation of nursing standards, policies and procedures.

• Perform direct nursing care in all area of responsibility as the need arises.

Monitors medication administration, notes and reports variances if any

• Monitors dispensing of controlled drugs in the unit

Coordinates with interdisciplinary group on accurate implementation of processes on requisition of services.

• Ensure that rooms, supplies, equipment, instruments and facilities are properly evaluated and in proper condition for safety in patient environment

Prepare work schedule of the unit

• Note requisitions regarding work schedule changes, revisions and leave applications

Authorizes overtime and on-call duty when need arises, depending on census

• Qualifications & Knowledge Needed

Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing

• Professional Regulations Commission licensed

At least 5 years work experience in the OR, Clinical/Surgical Nursing

• Certification and training in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Certification in Intravenous Therapy Training

• Administrative skills (Plan, lead/direct, organize and control)

Proficient communication skills (verbal and written)

• Coaching, competency development and performance management

Knowledge and competency in operating medical equipment

• Knowledge in Infection and Prevention Standards and Management Coordination, collaboration and organizational Conflict resolution

Analytical and logical skills
