Job Title: Remote Mortgage Underwriter
- Experience Required: Minimum 2-3years of experience in mortgage underwriting in the United States
The Remote Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and analyzing loan applications to determine the creditworthiness of borrowers and the risk involved in lending. This role requires a thorough understanding of mortgage guidelines, regulations, and the ability to make sound decisions based on the financial data provided. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in mortgage underwriting in the United States and possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.
Review and analyze residential loan applications to verify the accuracy and completeness of information provided by borrowers.
- Assess borrower creditworthiness and risk by examining credit reports, income documents, employment history, and other relevant financial data.
Ensure all loan applications comply with industry standards, government regulations, and company policies.- Make sound underwriting decisions and provide clear, concise explanations for loan approvals, conditions, and denials.
Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other team members to facilitate the loan approval process and address any issues or concerns.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of underwriting decisions and ensure timely completion of all underwriting tasks.
Stay current with industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in mortgage underwriting.- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Provide exceptional customer service by effectively communicating with borrowers, loan officers, and other stakeholders.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting within the United States.
- Thorough knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines, regulations, and best practices (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA and NON-QM Loans).
Proficiency in using mortgage underwriting software and other relevant tools.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a remote work environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.- High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field is preferred but not required.
