Job Description:
The Mortgage Financial Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely accounting and reporting for mortgages while meeting published quality and productivity standards. The role involves understanding the mortgage business and its systems to identify and investigate transactions for appropriate cash settlement and clearing processes. The role is also responsible for various reconciliations, especially those affecting the Lawson General Ledger.
Key Responsibilities:
Mortgage Accounting
- Ensure timely and accurate monitoring and clearing of mortgage suspense transactions, including payments, disbursements, and interest. The role also involves monthly and quarterly reconciliation of mortgage-related accounts based on IFRS reporting. Additionally, it includes reviewing mortgage allocations for new loans processed by the Manila Servicing team.
- Clearing of suspense accounts
- Managing payables and receivables
- Reconciling unmatched items/month-end balances and generating mortgage accounting reports
- Handling escrow and reserve accounts
- Managing money market deposit accounts
- Acquisition, disposition, and income data
- CAD/US fees
- Maintaining loss spreadsheets
- Preparing correspondent reports
- Generating principal movement reports
- Asset liability management
- Monitoring active loan deposit accounts
- Managing good faith and suspense accounts
- Performing other responsibilities assigned by management
- Developing and documenting internal controls and procedures for assigned tasks
- Conducting peer reviews
- Assisting the Toronto business unit with mortgage servicing tasks, inquiries, and projects as needed
Qualifications:
- University Business Degree and/or recognized accounting designation; CPA is an advantage but not required
- Accounting skills with a solid understanding of the mortgage business
- Knowledge of IFS Applications (Lawson, Essbase, Webfocus) is a plus.
- Experience using Enterprise and its planning tool (MSTR)
