Job SummaryThe Registered Medical Technologist performs and ensures the quality and accuracy of all examinations performed in the laboratory. May be assigned to handle other related laboratory sections as needed.
- Duties & Responsibilities
- Checks specimen and laboratory requests for complete data.
Performs physical, chemical, and microscopic examination of urine, stool, and other body fluids such as Cerebrospinal Fluid, Seminal Fluid, Dialysate, and other transudates.
- Performs quality control for all hematology tests weekly and as the need arises.
Performs complete blood count which includes: hemoglobin, hematocrit, white blood cell count, red blood cell count, white blood cell differential count, stained red cell examination, and platelet- Performs and reads Malarial Smear for malarial parasites.
Perform, controls, and establishes the ranges of all chemistry tests daily and as the need arises.
- Troubleshoots the machines and equipment when needed.
Checks specimen and requests for completeness of data, and logs in entry in the logbook.- Prepares an autoclave culture media and biochemical tests.
Performs antibiotic susceptibility testing using Broad spectrum Disk diffusion.
- Monitors the Incubator Temperature, an instrument wherein plates or specimen for culture are stored in a controlled temperature suitable for the organism's growth.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology
Registered Medical Technologist
- At least six (6) months to 1 year experience and training in Clinical Hematology and other Clinical laboratory sections with phlebotomy skills is an advantage
