The Medical Coordinator serves as the point of contact with regard to the Medical requirements and care of company employees and managed seafarers. He/She is responsible for setting and monitoring the overall workflow efficiency of the Team; analyzing personnel and material resources sufficiency; updating management and department heads of changes in regulations and standards; reviewing process flow and escalating issues, accordingly; and providing necessary coaching or guidance of his/her team members.
- A. DETAILED ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the daily conduct of core processes in the Medical Department according to set guidelines and process flows. Delegate and balance workload of team members.
Ensure that Team quality objectives are met. Increase team members level of awareness in compliance with policy and process related matters. Communicate in a timely manner all operating policies and or issues pertaining to crew PEME (pre-employment medical examinations), crewmembers post medical repatriations and end of contract medical care.
Conduct regular performance assessment. Identify areas of potential problems/risks and immediately elevate them with corrective action plans/proposals.
Get updated with the ever-changing health related travel protocol inbound or outbound - to the Philippines and other countries where crew are frequently sent for joining assigned vessel.
Ensure that team members are fully versed in all facets of their assigned tasks, compliant with special requirements of the accounts they are managing, trackers are maintained, and reports are submitted according to prescribed format and time frame.
Maintain complaint registry and initiate actions for their immediate resolutions.
Participate in special projects and other company activities which are geared towards overall improvement of operational process and delivery of services to internal (other departments) and external (crew and principals) clients.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, joining professional organizations, and building relationships in the medical community, particularly sea based.
Perform other duties that may be assigned by immediate superior and management.
- B. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or related work experience (minimum of 4 years)
Preferably with related professional license and training(e.g., registered nurse)
Good verbal and written skills
Strong interpersonal / relationship building skills
High degree of problem-solving and analytical skills
Independent, ethical, and honest
Deadline-oriented with strong data organization, action planning and report generation skills
Knowledge of general business software and aptitude to learn new applications; proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
